Getting your plushies manufactured can be a fun and exciting process! But, there are a few things you need before you can get started!PLANNING
When you decide that you want to get into creating plush dolls through a manufacturer, do your research beforehand. Make sure to research any and all companies that you are interested in ordering from.Getting plush dolls made by a manufacturer also costs a lot of money! If you plan on getting one or producing them in bulk, you will need to pay for a sample. Some manufacturers will allow one-off (also referred to as "bastards") plushies, meaning you are only asking them to make a single plushie. If you want only one plush, ask the manufacturer if they make one-off/bastard plush dolls. Other manufacturers require a minimum order of a certain amount. This number can vary, but make sure to ask your manufacturer what the MOQ, or minimum order quantity is. Make sure you're mentally prepared and ready to spend hundreds to thousands of dollars on plush doll manufacturing if you plan on creating them in bulk. All doll manufacturers create a sample of your plush. If you are making one doll, this sample will be yours. If you're making more than one plush doll, the sample will serve as the blueprint to create the rest of the dolls. A sample of a single plush doll can average from about $100+-$300+ depending on size, style, complexity, if the doll comes with clothes, or extra accessories. Doll samples without clothes will cost less than doll samples with clothing. Each manufacturer allows a certain number of revisions on your sample and will charge more after that number, so make sure to ask how many revisions they allow. If you decide to order more than one plushie, the cost of each plush will be based on complexity, size, style, clothing, and how many you purchase. These costs will range from hundreds to thousands of dollars. If you plan on making many plush dolls and selling them, make sure to also factor shipping from the manufacturer, shipping to customers, packaging supplies, taxes, and storefront fees into your budget. If you buy a lot of plushies from the manufacturer, be prepared to spend a hefty amount on overseas shipping (hundreds to thousands of dollars).Essentially, do your research and be financially prepared!PLUSH DESIGN ART
What your manufacturer will need from you is a drawn design of your plush. If you cannot create plush design art, research artists who specialize in plush design art or artists who can draw plush design art for you, and commission them. Make sure you discuss whether or not you will mass-produce these dolls with the artist so they can price their work accordingly.♥If you are an artist who does plush doll design commissions, please contact me on any of my social media accounts, and I can list you as a resource on this guide!♥Make sure you have the front and back of your plush drawn out for the manufacturer. If there is detail on the sides, make sure to include a profile view of the plush in the design art as well.If the plush doll has clothes, draw each piece of clothing, and separate each of them out in the design art.Example of plush design art with clothes:

Did your plush doll get dirty? Have no fear, you can wash it!You can either handwash or wash the doll in a washing machine in a laundry bag on gentle wash.
